Welcome to the Creating a Healthier You blog page! I’m Billy Jo Collette, a nutrition and fitness enthusiast, and spiritual communicator. My goal is to help others live a healthy lifestyle and be true to themselves.
I have a passion, drive, and goal for each of the tabs on my website and here’s why:
Nutrition
Growing up, I didn’t give much thought to what I ate and had a diet that consisted of primarily peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, mac and cheese, chips, cookies, and mixed in was a bit of meat and vegetables for dinner. I loved the polar opposites: sweet and salty snacks. But as I became a bit insecure about my body, my diet shifted.
I have been a dancer since the age of three, and when I was thirteen years old, I was assigned my first two-piece costume. I remember leaving the dance studio with my other teammates, excited because we would be wearing our first “mature” costume. But when trying the costume on at home for my parents it wasn’t quite as flattering on my body as I had thought it would be.
My dad, being the fit guy that he is, said nicely “well if you feel insecure, maybe you could try incorporating a few sit-ups and a better diet into your daily routine.” So I did, and I began to see results. A few months later, I had lost a few pounds and began to feel and notice the difference that eating healthier foods had on my body. I began getting compliments from older adults and classmates about the changes they were noticing and this triggered me to continue my weight loss. The challenge spiraled down to unhealthy choices and me being a pretty tiny weight as the compliments kept rolling in.
After about a year, I was able to find a balance and began to rebuild my body strength by eating a diet of both healthy meals and some sweet treats too. The whole experience led me to realize how important nutrition is for the body and your mentality and lead me to decided then that nutrition was what I wanted to pursue throughout my future career. My goal after receiving my college degree in nutrition is to become a nutritionist and help and inspire individuals to find healthy habits to implement into diets that work for their lifestyle.
Looking forward to future nutrition blog posts as well as my Instagram posts @creatingahealthieryou, I plan to share simple meal recipes that individuals can make even with a busy schedule. Each food group and superfoods have many things that they can help aid the body with and I enjoy sharing those facts with people that find them useful. I aim to help young girls (boys, or any age too) through their insecurities and to help them find balance within their diet. I hope that by sharing posts of healthy things I find delicious and sharing information that I can inspire readers to use the recipes and tips in their own kitchens, and to incorporate a healthy diet that works into their lifestyle.
Fitness
My fitness journey started right along with my nutrition journey around the age of thirteen. I listened to my dad’s advice at first and began implementing sit-ups into my daily routine. At that point, I didn't know a lot about fitness outside of dance practices, but it did intrigue me; so I turned to the internet to learn more full-body exercises. My love for fitness has only grown from there.
Currently, I am a group fitness instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Kress Events Center. There I teach a Barre Sculpt class in which I implement my training as a dancer and my experience in the gym into full-body workouts (primarily geared toward women). I also teach the Barre Sculpt Group Fitness Class at New Fusion Dance and Performing Arts to “Dance Moms” (anyone is welcome to register) while their kids are in lessons. This past summer, 2019, I began coaching dance at New Fusion and love it! Teaching ages 2-18 has been so much fun and keeps me on my toes. I love challenging the girls with some workouts to keep their bodies strong and their balance up to par.
Overall, I aim to help many individuals find activities that work their bodies and that they enjoy doing and implementing it into their daily life. Working out doesn't have to be time-consuming and it can be enjoyable. Using this website, blog, and my health and fitness Instagram @creatingahealthieryou, I plan to share time-efficient full-body workouts that I do in my Barre Sculpt classes and workouts directly targeting specific body parts (abs, booty, legs, arms).
E-Book
Last year I released my first book titled Seeing for the First Time. The description on the back of the book reads, “My Journey Began with a visitation from a spirit that was very near and dear to my heart. With the help of my mom and others, I have grown not only as a spiritual communicator but also as a person. I wrote this book to share my experiences with the world, show and encourage children that they aren’t crazy, and explain to parents how important it is for them to listen and support their child as they try to figure “things” out. I talk about what I did to learn more about my gift, whom I turned to for help along the way, and give crystal children and their parents the proper tools to understand and begin to pave their own path as they start their spiritual journey. Sudden experiences like my first can make the start a bit rocky and scary, but once learning how to control and use the gift to its fullest potential, having the power to communicate with the other side is truly a blessing.”
There have been so many spiritual experiences that I am thankful to have had and that have shaped me into who I am today. I wrote this book in an easy-to-read format for children and their parents to be able to understand how to approach the experiences they are having. I have been an Energy Sound Practitioner for almost three years and am so grateful to have a business that can change the lives of others. What inspired me to become an Energy Sound Practitioner is the effectiveness and impact that it has on my life. I was treated for nerves before leaving for dance competition weekends when dancing in studio throughout grade school, and the treatments allowed me to be “calm as a cucumber” before stepping foot on stage to perform. Energy Sound Therapy has also helped me overcome the insecurities and troubles that come as a teen.
Once realizing how much Energy Sound Therapy helped me, I wanted to be able to give others the same free and happy feelings that I felt after releasing the stored negative emotions. I am able to easily connect with children, teens, and young adults going through tough times in school (studies, bullying, low self-confidence) because of going through them in grade school and also currently being a college student.
Guardian Angel Reading/ Guardian Angel and Spirit Guide Reading:
Using my gift as a medium I am able to communicate with Angels. In this session, I will guide you through meeting your Guardian Angels and Spirit Guides with a description of their appearance and what each specializes in helping you with. All readings are done remotely before the set appointment so that when we meet I can go into further detail and description and answer any questions during the appointment time.

My goal for the future of this blog page is to fill it with posts of healthy recipes and snacks, workouts and fitness tips, stories and lessons learned from spiritual experiences and encounters, and positive/motivational posts.
